Velocity Completes an Oracle Fusion Go-Live Using HCM Data Loader in Eight Weeks

On October 12, one of Velocity’s clients successfully went live with Oracle’s HCM Cloud Core HR and Workforce Compensation. The design, configuration, testing and deployment of the system for a population of over 600 employees across multiple international locations were all completed in only eight weeks. Projects of this size typically require 12-16 weeks, and Oracle reported to the client’s Project Management Office that this was the second fastest implementation ever of any HCM Cloud offering.

Velocity led the data conversion effort using Oracle Fusion’s brand new tool, HCM Data Loader (HDL), to convert work structure and person data. (Click here for Oracle’s HDL user guide.) This makes Velocity and our client among the first organizations to successfully implement Fusion leveraging HDL. I will offer more specifics about the tool in a later post, but in general I found HDL to be a significant improvement over the previous conversion tool, File-Based Loader (which you can read about in one of my earlier blog posts), and I expect it to help simplify the overall conversion effort involved in any implementation. I look forward to using it further as more organizations continue to move to Oracle Fusion cloud services.
